8xFull HD Projection with edge blending + PIP problem
Hello there!
I will have a project in the near future with the following spec:
110m wide 6 meter high curved screen projected by 8 FULL HD projectors with edge blending.
The resolution of the whole setup is 12446x680 pixels.
The projection is mainly an background video with 2 PIP-s floating (presenation + live camera)
I have the following issues:
To make playback in this size I need to cut my screen into more pieces (as I know the software only support resolution about 8K wide).
I have to float my PIP-s during the show, and I don't know where the windows should be placed. (There is a man walking on the stage, and I need to position and fly the PIP windows behind the guy).
If I use more screens I cannot fly my PIP windows seamlessly trough my whole screen.
I have an Ai Infinity with 8 outputs.
Anyone has an idea how I can manage it?
Thanks a lot!

Re: 8xFull HD Projection with edge blending + PIP problem
Hi Sanyiii,
i would be concerned performing this with a single server. as you are technicly processing a 16k texture. ( as the resolution is higher than 8192 wide, the next step up at which open gl processes is 16384.... which is essentialy 16k ) if we were to double up the content, then the height would exceed 1k ( 1024 ) so it falls into 2 k territory ( 2048 ) which multiplied by 8k also equals 16k.
a couple of thoughts that can help us to work a solution:
1) could the resolution be reduced at all? ( if the height was less than 512, we could double up / tile the halves of the screen and it would be an 8k texture. we could then select the sections each projector shows )
2) how many layers do you want to run including pip layers?

Re: 8xFull HD Projection with edge blending + PIP problem
Any chance of reducing your image to 1280 x 720 sections?
You are already overshooting the vertical area of the projectors by 38%. Dropping to 720P will not impact your vertical pixel count very much.
Based on your screen dimensions, this is ideally an 11 or 12 screen blend. Any chance of upping the projector count?
