Hello,

How does one close the "Browser" and the "Inspector" windows that are found under the "View" menu?

hello,

they operate in the same way as the other windows - pressing the x at the top right will close them.

Neither of those windows has an 'x' on my system. Wink

odd. weve never seen them without the X button- we re wondering wether there is some sort of curruption of the patches.

you could try replacing the browser and inspector patches with the versions ive attached - they should be the same but we know they have the X in them.

try unziping them and overwrite the existing files which can be found in distrib/system/scb

Overwritten, and although the file sizes seemed to be slightly different (by a few bytes) there are still no exs.

ok, thanks for trying.

i think as you have more than one unexpected error that we are going to need to look at what you did from the very start. did you work from a build guide or was it a more free form approach? has the machine been built specificly for this purpose?

if its a long list of steps, it might be better to mail it over to the support email.

The only 'build guide' I have ever seen for an Ai machine is your 'Minimum System Requirements' on the avolitesmedia.com website, if you are referring to a generic 'build guide' for PCs, then I have been doing that since I was about 13... I am nearing 40 now and I have built a few machines in the past few years. Wink

These are purpose built machines, with input from this forum along the way. Look at my posts, most threads -especially the early ones- were all about specifying the hardware for these builds. The "Choosing a processor" thread contains most of the info on the build, or maybe the "Choosing a graphics card" thread is also helpful?

As far as a build guide on my side, pretty simple, assemble PC, create RAID array, install windows, update drivers, update windows, update windows, update windows, update windows, update windows (no my keyboard is not stuck on Ctrl+V), install Ai7 public build (I don't generally install beta software on production machines), install dongle... and then apparently let the chaos reign. Wink

Updating to the Ai specific W7000 driver has helped with some of the issues, but certainly not all of them. Its existence should be added to the Ai Media Software download page, and also be mentioned in the Read Me file for the software.

If there is an Ai specific build guide... please provide a link.

Thank you.

i will see if there is any documentation our production department can give me.

did you remove the graphics card driver before installing the new one? the fire pros can be a little fussy. there is a description of amds preffered uninstall process here http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/GPU57RemoveOldGraphicsDrivers.aspx

May I suggest posting that info to the driver thread? Wink

Trying that now.

Hi Guys

I would suggest trying the V8 Beta and see if the problem is still there. The official V8 release is due next week in time for the LDi show in Las Vegas. Our developers are no longer working on v7 so if there is an issue here that has caused the x's to vanish then our recommendation would be to upgrade to V8 first anyway. If the problem persists there then we will look into fixing it asap.

Best regards
Dave

Sure, as soon as my ticket on the 8 beta not even opening on my machines is resolved... I can try running the beta software and see if it has the exs on those windows if they even exist in the new software Wink

I still don't have the exs, but I can report that based on your "Crtl+Tab" tip from another thread, that I tried "Ctrl+F4" to close these windows and had no success.. interestingly using "Alt+F4" did manage to close them - odd that they are treated as seperate windows.. "Alt+F4" would normally close the entire program, with "Ctrl+F4" being the in program window close.

Just thought I'd pass on that note.
