Hi all,
I installed V7 RC17 in my laptop running Win 8.1, the dongle is does not seem to be recognized...

What is the USB Port that the Dongle is plugged into? If it's a USB 3 port then I don't think it will work. Do you have a USB 2 port that you can plug it into?

have you installed the dongle drivers?
they can be found in distrib/system/smart dongle - there are 2 versions, one for 32bit windows and one for 64 bit windows.

Thanks Arran, Windows 8.1 ALSO removed the driver. I should have known, thanks any way!! :)But now AI does start a background process, but I have no interface at all, not even the top bar.... Someelse I missed? Works fine on my T8 thought!

it sounds like you need to disable UAC and also make sure the program is run as administrator ( right click the shortcut / properties / compatibility / run as administrator )
