Video Cards and Frame Rate

Video Cards and Frame Rate
Two Windows 7 machines
Project: Demoproject- built into Ai
AMD Firepro V7900 SDI Max FPS for this project is 30
NVidia GTx 580 FPS= 60
FPS reading is from Ai UI Control panel.
I tried the AMD driver package in the Downloads section. Does not seem to work with this card.
Any thoughts on ways to get higher frame rate?

Re: Video Cards and Frame Rate
Good Morning
Ai is very sensitive to what Driver is in use - especially with the AMD Firepro range. We only really recommend using the driver linked to from this forum. other Drivers may perform badly because the driver linked to from this forum was developed together in conjunction with the AMD driver team to optimise their driver for our use case.
That said, another customer has used the card you mentioned in the past and we managed to get it working with the latest driver (rather than the one linked to from this forum) although we did have some issues with tearing, and I think in the end they were resolved by installing an S400 sync card alongside the GPU and using that to sync the board.
The reason we use the AMD cards is not because they are the best performance wise, it is because the AMD support team are really good to us and that is critical with a product like ours. The NVidia cards do often perform better in many scenario's though, which is frustrating but hopefully this issue will be less prevalent once we adopt the AMD W series cards which we are currently testing with at the moment.

Re: Video Cards and Frame Rate
Dave,
Thank you for the reply.
Is there perhaps another copy of the AMD driver package?
When I used the one in the downloads section, it installs the Catalyst Control panel, but does not recognize the V7900.
We are starting with a clean install to create a disc image for this machine.
If not, what is a better Firepro option?
We do have the sync card. I will see what I get from that later today.
