Re: remote control of Ai with iPad
Hi,
im new to IOS, but have started to make use of Lemur by Liine which is a bit like TouchOSC but goes a little deeper - this does of course need some advance work to get it setup properly.
i will try to do some tests today on remote desktop control options for IOS and let you know what i see.

Re: remote control of Ai with iPad
ive been trying out some options overnight.
VNC seems to be the winner for me. ( i know we have other users who have used it too )
i ran VNC Server on the machine being controlled and VNC Viewer on the ipad ( ipad mini retina ) and found the response very quick and useable. i liked that it also allows me to see all of the outputs on the machine being controlled from the ipad and the price is good too ( both parts were free ) this method does not require an internet connection either and can run locally?

Re: remote control of Ai with iPad
Hi guys,
I have been running TeamViewer for all sorts of things mainly because of its speed, multiplatform and being free. tried Microsoft's own RDP (extremely fast but useless as there is no way to configure resolution change), various VNC based solutions.
All of them have a big problem when it comes to using the mapping editor - button typematic rate transfer to the server seems very slow/erratic and thus the button pressing becomes so tedious it endangers people around the operator (unless the operator has plenty of time).
Perhaps Avo should look at implementing a native or at least a universal mobile/web app for remote/multiuser mapping editor? Something with direct (mouse/finger - drag & drop) vertex manipulation to speed it up by another order of magnitude.
I've been playing around with a custom version of the mapping editor but cannot get it to work satisfactory due to the limitaions of the VNC tools (mainly typematic rate). It works beautifully with locally connected keyboard.
Also - There seem to be no low level access to mouse/keyboard which would be very useful for patching all sorts of interactive functions. E.g. remote mousepad/parameter control. Currently those sort of thing seem to be only viable through OSC...
other things work well.. but the main reason for remote - mapping editor - not so well..
