7.0.0.922
New Project
Add screen fixtures from Stage Construction Page
Up to 9 fixtures is OK (Numbered 0-Cool
Screen Fixture 10 crashes Ai.

I am not changing size, position or name- the show has 11 separate LED elements. Just trying to add the fixtures and then I will move, name and size.

Also tried adding from Stage Patch screen. Same problem.

Thanks for pointing this out.

It is possible to use the model merge function to merge fixtures together, and this seems to help when constructing fixtures. For example, if you were making an 8 screen fixture, you can make the first four screens then use model merge to make this into 1 fixture. Then you can create a new fixture and copy the newly merged model to this new fixture. This helps when creating larger screen fixtures.

I thought about model merge.

This makes patching a little more difficult, as separate content to each surface. I need a space on the output between each surface to reflect the negative space on stage.

Also, 5 of these move independently.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Guys

The system is probably running out of memory. Each time you add a screen fixture, 4 layers are being created for each screen fixture. So with 9 screen fixtures thats 36 layers which is likely more layers than you can support on your system. Some GPU's have 2Gb of memory in which case 36 layers might be ok.

I would suggest re thinking your plan and keeping the number of screen fixtures down to no more than 3 or 4, you can always position content onto the individual screens in content or by moving layers around.

Thanks and best regards
Dave

Would eliminating unused layers by deleting in stage patch help?

My windows hardware includes:
Win 7
32 GB System memory
GTX 580 GFX card w: 3GB on-board graphics memory

As a follow up, the same configuration on a MBP does not crash the application.

Not understanding why this is not crashing my MBP w: 8 GB RAM total.

OK, Sounds like you have plenty of memory then. What resolution are your fixture groups? And what Ai licence do you have on that machine?

Thanks
