hi i have a number of dmx rgb pixels that require mapping. please can you outline the modules required for this and the process required for getting out put to my leds. i am outputting via artnet to an elation E-node 8 artnet to dmx box. still im unable to connect this lot togther. thankyou

This is a slightly tricky one. But the best way that we have at the moment is by using the fixture Called 'Modular LED', this is the 6th option in the stage construction page.

We have to provide this fixture with a model (for visualisation purposes) and a CSV file, for output mapping. The CSV file provides uv co-ordinates as well as universe and channel information. So when in the stage Construction page you will need to drag on a 3D model. You will then also need to drag on a CSV file to the fixture which will interpret the mapping information.

The CSV file should have the information layed out like this:

| Channel | Universe | U Co-Ordinate | V Co-Ordinate |

Then you will need to go into the stage patch and expand the bottom border to reveal the Patch IO, which has a port called 'DMX Send'. Plug this into your Modular LED Fixture and you should be ready to go.

It can be a bit tricky to set up and it's worth noting that you should make a model with quad planes. I.e imagine visualising each individual LED is a square plane. Then you should be ready to go.

Here is a demo project that should hopefully give you an idea of what is needed: http://www.avolites.com/ai/forum%20patches/dmx_mapping.zip

Just extract the files, boot up the project and then in the stage construction page drag the model first onto the screen fixture. Then the CSV file.

The Texture Sample Module may also do what you need.

Arran helped me with this earlier.

Arran, may I post your sample file?

Hey Gringo, feel free to post the sample that Arran sent you. I'm sure he would be happy to see it helping out the community.

Out of interest though is it the system patch called 'Sample Texture Region'? It is worth noting that this is a very useful patch but only works for video outputs. Fractal is looking for Artnet pixel mapping on this occasion Wink

yeah, feel free to post it Smile ( otherwise i will dig it out when im in the office tomorrow )

its an Artnet based solution using the Texture Sample module in the Vision section.

Thanks for posting that Gringoloco.

That's a neat little patch. Good work to you and Arran Smile

hello, So Ciran i tried the method and the example you posted. all i get is the leds go blank, black, which is great means they recieving dmx, however there is no content able to play thru nothing comes out. when i put content on a layer it doesnt even play in the layer just black??????? any ideas?
also arran, i checked out yer patch would be nice to get some pointers on how to use correctly. it made several of my leds change colour to red green and blue individually, but thats all. again no content would play. i must be missing something somewhere.
Thanks

you need to make sure the channels and universes in the csv sheet do not conflict with the layer assignments before making the dmx listener connection in the stagepatch, otherwise it is likely the csv sheet is adjusting the layer properties. i generaly just adjust the layers channels and universes - stagepatch/mixer - as i find thats the quickest way.

hey ARRan, what do you mean conflicting with the layer asignments? im in the multilayer mixer and can see in layer 1 its set to uni 0 and channel-1.
layer 2 3 4 are set to uni 0 cha 101 cha 201 and cha 301.
im not entirely sure what this means. im using the example model and csv, which ciaran posted.
the csv sheet starts in universe 0 from address 1 and runs through 5 universes.
when i connect the dmx send. all the leds go white then turn off? im not sure where i am going wrong or how to go about solving the issue.
much thanks for yer help bro.

by conflicting i mean the same - if they are assigned to the same channels and universes they will conflict with each other.

offset the layers channels and universes or offset the channel and universe assignments in the csv sheet so that they are not the same.

ok i can change the layer uni in the mixer in the first window that opens. so if i change all the layer universes to 6 then there should be no conflict.??? i lll give it a go now

ok doesnt seem to work, i change the layer universes to 6 in multilayer mixer. which i save. then attach the dmx send. still blank. no image in the interface or playing on the layers. and no out put to the leds. i wanted to post a screen shot, but not sure how too. https://i.servimg.com/u/f55/18/59/15/40/dmx_le10.png maye this works

you need to adjust the layer assignments BEFORE connecting the dmx listener. if the project already exists, you could try using the reset to defaults  button in the layer personality.

if the project has already been saved then it will have the incorrect layer setttings.
