Modular LED Fixture + Artnet output Empty Modular LED Fixture + Artnet output

Hi there,

I have a quick question regarding a project I'm running using the Modular-LED Fixture and Artnet output on an infinity 8 running the latest V9 release.

I have set up and mapped my 70 fixtures on the output tab which are spread across 16 artnet universes. And I am seeing dmx output to my fixtures, however they aren't quite responding how I'd expect.

The fixtures seem to be taking an average of the whole line of pixels along the X co-ordinate in my fixture, rather than just the pixels within the source region that I defined. When I move a white layer on the Y axis, I am seeing the wipe that I would expect, however moving the layer along the X axis does not wipe across the columns of fixtures like it should. Rather the LED fixtures display what I can only assume is the average of the pixel values within row on the X axis.

Sorry if my description isn't quite making sense, but I tried many various fixes to try and solve the issue, and came up with nothing that seemed to help.

In the output tab for the modular-led-fixture, I have set 70x defined regions of 1px wide by approx 300px tall, split into 40 vertical sections and one horizontal row (each batten has 40px - 120dmx channels) I have arranged these within the 1920 x 1080 canvas that I set my fixture to.

Is my problem perhaps coming from the fact that I have not set a 1:1 pixel map between the fixture canvas and the physical fixtures? Is the software trying to average up too many pixels in order to calculate the values?

I am away from the server until the morning, but just wondered if anyone could shed any light on what might be causing me this headache

Thanks,
Paul

Hey there Paul,

Thanks for your detailed description. The modular LED fixture requires a power of 2 to be set on the X-Resolution. This is due to the way that we read the video back from the GPU before doing our processing for DMX output. When the X-Resolution is not set to this, then we experience offsetting problems where the sample data looks incorrect.

To fix this you only need to change the X-Resolution, moving on up from your HD Raster, the next power of 2 would be 2048. So you could either set your resolution to 2048x1080 or if you wanted to maintain the aspect you could set it to 2048x1152.

Hopefully this should resolve the situation for you. Please give it a go and let us know how you get on.

Thanks Smile
